Excellent overview of this epic battle of antiquity.
Full of insights and very well Written

After playing for 42 years, I found this book #1!!!
Inspiring story of an amazing ChampionOkay, so maybe you know who Judit Polgar is, but you aren't clear about who Zsuzsa and Sofia are, right? If so, then this is the book for you!
This book contains lots of behind-the-scenes info on Zsuzsa's tournament career, and the often nasty political tactics that were used to (try and) keep Zsuzsa out of the spotlight. This book gave me a much better appreciation of who Zsuzsa is, how her contributions to chess helped pave the way for her younger sisters (and women in general) to excel in the traditionally male-dominated chess world, and what an amazing player she is in her own right!
Also contain 100+ pages of games annotated by Zsuzsa (including all the games from her 1996 World Championship match with Xie Jun), and lots of color and b/w photos of the sisters and other chess legends (go find Bobby Fischer!).
Excellent, and an easy read, even for non-chess players! I gave it a "9" only because I wanted more, more, more!!! :-

review of Quest for the Silver Castle
Captivating....

The Real DealThis book doesn't contain--as many of the naive expect from such books--detailed plans that will allow you to build a free energy motor, nor does it claim to. But it offers concise, referenced, well-edited explanations of an "ether" or "zero-point-energy" theory that is the conceptual backbone of free energy systems. Postulated operational principles of some of the more infamous free energy devices are also included.
I don't usually write reviews, but I made an exception in this case because I am (very) tired of this genre being polluted by so many quacks. Free energy is credible, and possible, and this is one book that helps disseminate useful information on a topic of critical importance to humanity.

Amusing, But Not Much MoreWhile she's no Emerson, perhaps King is a second-rate Mencken. But then again, even that one's debatable (btw I enjoyed her WITH CHARITY TOWARD NONE: A FOND LOOK AT MISANTHROPY considerably more).
the marvelous misanthropeFollowing in the tradition of her mother who was a "muleskinner cusser", Miss King decries the "decline and fall of profanity" which has dwindled down to a few meager 4 letter words. She also has much to say about the pandering of the "Helpists", "personality over character", her aversion to children, and more.
Being one myself, I thoroughly enjoyed Chapter 4, "Spinsterhood is Powerful". She says in this chapter: "I am often accused of being an anti-feminist, and my name is mud at Ms. Magazine, but in truth my whole life has been a feminist statement. The conflict lies not in my outlook and attitudes but in the definition of feminism that has been foisted on America in the late twentieth century".
Chapter 16, about her foray into the lusty romance novel genre (which she wrote under the pseudonym of Laura Buchanan) is hilarious, as are her efforts to write a magazine piece on the work of John Updike.
This collection of 18 essays was originally published in '89, and is a good example of her cynical but humorous viewpoint. Though dreadfully missed as a contributor to National Review Magazine, where she has recently taken her leave (her "Misanthrope's Corner" had graced the back page for decades), her books will continue to delight me, in their uniqueness and passionate spirit of independence.
A purely superb book- straight shots of wit throughoutGeorge Will wrote of Miss King- "If Mencken were alive, he would be her". This is the highest praise imagineable, and well deserved.
Miss King is to prose as Elton John is to rock piano. Do not overlook this book.
